Simon Says Part VI

Previously

He slammed on the brakes! … a turtle crossed the street …  There had never been a pizza place on the corner of 6th and Narrowway before … Only one hour and seven minutes before he had planned to kill Superfrog … Take him to his deathbed! NOW!

The superb adventure of Superfrog continues…

The pizza place stood on the corner just across the street from Fred’s TVLand. Superfrog parked on the side of the street just outside. This was the same corner he’d come screeching to a halt at earlier. At the time it didn’t seem very strange that he had waited quite some time for that turtle to cross the street. As he thought back on it, something troubled him. Superfrog sat with his finger on his forehead, deep in thought.

*******

The footsteps of the two men echoed as they escorted their prisoner down the dimly lit hallway. Each stared straight ahead, keenly aware of their surroundings. One by one the dim lights lining the hallway passed them. Every so often a glimmer of light could be seen reflecting off what appeared to be a gun hanging at one man’s side. They were taking their prisoner to his deathbed. Soon Superfrog would be no more…

*******

Superfrog, with his finger on his forehead, appeared to be in deep thought. His eyes were wide open and he was looking at the steering wheel of the van. Well, actually, to say he was looking at the steering wheel is not entirely true. He was actually attempting to look through the steering wheel. He stared very hard, focusing on something in the distance…

*******

The men and their prisoner rounded one last corner. There in front of them loomed a very large combination lock which was centered on an even larger steel door. Above the door in large letters were the words “Superfrog’s Deathbed – A chamber of death made exclusively for Superfrog to die a horrible death of pain and suffering in.” Below that in smaller letters were the words “Love, Simon”. Further below, in even smaller letters were the words “PS. HA HA HA … ha”.

Click, Click, Click. One of the men was hugging the lock and rotating it around.

“No, No, No! You’re entering the wrong combination! Didn’t you get the letter of notification sent out to notify us of the new combination this morning?! It’s 13725, 2, 2, 2, 2, 4052, 2, 2, 6537, 2, 8022, 2. Not 13725, 2, 2, 2, 4052, 22, 6537, 8022, 2, 2! Do you even have a memory?! GOODNESS! Let me do it!” the second of the men said calmly.

And with that the second man moved toward the combination lock. He pushed the first aside stretched out his arms and hugged the lock. Neither man was aware of the change in their prisoners posture, nor of his eyes which had flickered briefly…

To be continued…
